COMMONWEALTH GAMES – UPDATE

The Commonwealth Games starts on Thursday 28th July and concludes on Monday 8th August.

During this time, and possibly a few days either side, there will be a number of road closures around the area of the NHS Blood and Transplant building on Vincent Drive, Birmingham. The A38 remains open so, if you are asked to go the whole way to the NBS, you can follow the regular route into Birmingham via the M6 and A38M, A38.

As one of the Games venues is the University of Birmingham it means that both the road alongside the University, Edgbaston Park Road, and the approach from the rear via the B4217 will be closed. The suggested route is therefore continue on the A38, ignoring the normal right turn onto Edgbaston Park Road, until the next roundabout where you take the 2nd exit to New Fosse Way. Continue straight over the next roundabout, and the NBS Building will be on your right after about 0.3 of a mile. There should be signs once you join New Fosse Way but there has been significant construction in he area due to the Games so signage may not be as it was before.

Revised route on Google.
